Evolving Into Her Purpose

Pursue Alum, Teirra Scott shares her journey as a Chicago Westside native to a Howard University Alum. Teirra decided to attend Howard University because got the opportunity to stay at Howard for a week to experience a glimpse of college life. She also felt a sense of community and being around individuals who looked like her. Although Teirra received no money from Howard during her Freshmen year, she found a community that supported her dreams.

"The money Pursue gave me was very small, but the impact they gave me was incredible. The biggest thing about being alone and doing something you don't have an example of was that literally it was just me and God. I had been in church my whole life but when I went away, I had to make sure I knew God for myself. Pursue made sure to cultivate that relationship with God, I was there by faith and made it through by faith. Pursue provided that spiritual support I needed even when sending care packages," said Scott.

After graduating, Teirra came back to her community as a teacher and mentor. Which sparked her passion to start her mentoring program. If you would like to learn more about Teirra's journey, click one of the links below.
