South Side Chicago To Pepperdine University

Desmond (Des) Herring grew up on the South Side of Chicago. He graduated from Gary Comer College Prep in 2013. He continued his education at Pepperdine University and graduated in 2017.

Desmond has been serving as an Alum Representative on our Board. Desmond shares how Pursue impacted his college experience. “When Pursue sent my care package I could get it right away which I think was so important [and] my family did a good job of sending care packages too. It was even more special that this organization went further than distributing funds for me to be here…,” said Herring.
